Russia To Ban Foreign Religious Sects
Members of foreign religious sects may be banned to enter Russia in the near future. The Russian government is considering a possible change in the bill "on freedom of conscience and religious organizations" to prevent foreign sects and extremist organizations from getting into Russia, Interfax news agency reported, quoting Russian Deputy Prime Minister Valentina Matviyenko.
Matvienko told Interfax after a government commission session that the government charged the Foreign and Interior Ministries with analyze the situation and preparing their proposals on the matter. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, "sometimes these people come to Russia for a whole year and no one knows for sure what exactly they are doing in our country".
